Project Management

Abstract

The main objective of the project management is to achieve the specific project goals and objectives while honoring the preconceived project constraints. It includes planning, organizing, and managing the resources. Project management is closely related to and sometimes conflated with program management.

Scope, time, and budget of project are some constraints of the project. The second main ambitious challenge of the project management is to optimize the allocation and integration of inputs required to achieve the pre-defined objectives and goals.

A project is a temporary endeavour that has defined beginning and end (usually constrained by date, funding or deliverables). It should meet the particular goals and objectives of the project. The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast to business as operations, which are repetitive, permanent or semi-permanent functional work to produce products or services. Normally, the management of these two systems are quiet different, and requires the adoption of separate management and development of distinct technical skills.
