Lost Articles and Letters Reconciliation System

Nowadays, Post Office wants to improve its efficiency by delivering the lost letters and lost articles (which are sent in parcels) to the correct destination within few days. Presently, Post Office requires three months for delivering a lost letter or a lost article to the correct destination. The main aim of this project is to develop a system that reduces the turnaround time from three months to 10 working days. It should deliver the letter/article to the correct destination.

In the existing system, a machine reads the addresses written on the letters. Then, a person sorts the letters that can’t read by the machine. If the address of a letter is not readable by human then that letter becomes a lost letter. The articles that fallen out of the parcel are called as lost articles. When the sender/receiver goes to the post office to get their letter/article, post office creates a manual note. Then this note is transferred to the warehouse. All lost articles and lost letters are placed in the ware house. The process of identifying the lost letter/article is a manual process and sometimes wrong letters/articles are sent to the receiver. The proposed Lost Articles and Letters Reconciliation System is developed to solve these problems.
