Distributed Computing For E-Learning


The main aim of the distributed computing is to provide a standard, complete set of grid computing capabilities. Each and every user must have his login account. By using this account, he can access all resources. The main benefit of Grid computing is, a network of distributed resources including the computers, instruments, switches, peripherals and data.

The basic functions of the distributed computing are given below:

  • Data management on and between the resources
  • Process management on and between resources
  • Information collection and publishing
  • Discovering the resources
  • Process and session recording/accounting
  • Common security mechanism

At the beginning, we should analyze the nature of Grid computing and its requirements for knowledge support. Later, we should discuss the characteristics of knowledge and the challenges for knowledge management on the Grid. Here, we are developing semantic based grid based applications for e-learning.

Proposed System

We identified the requirements of grid computing and analyzed the nature of Grid computing for knowledge management. We proposed an innovative and systematic approach for knowledge management. The management on the Grid is required to achieve the goal of the Grid Computing.

Here, we proposed the Semantic Web-based approach to manage heterogeneous, distributed Grid resources for Grid applications. Then, we conceived a methodology to explain the complete life cycle of knowledge management. Also, we designed an architecture to understand the proposed approach. Later, we applied the methodology, approach and concepts to a real-world Grid application.
